Welcome! I started this channel LONG ago. The point for me doing so was to get gigs. The old way of demo tapes to get jobs was done. Clubs wanted video. So my wife Rita and I bought a little video camera and she'd come to the shows and shoot them. I'd post the videos on UA-cam and send the links to agencies and clubs. Later on, I started filming home improvements around the house. To my surprise, people were appreciative. The channel became a mix of different things. People go to UA-cam for 1 of 2 reasons, to be entertained or to learn. My niche is the later, so everything I posted was knowledge based. While gigging fulltime in Florida, I decided to do a bass lesson video for beginners. Out of the blue, people from around the world started asking me for bass lessons. Turns out that bass lesson video was getting seen. So now I give lessons and this channel is all music. this guy is genius hooooo
I played with Duck and he was a no non-sense bass player. I was in my early 20's and really enjoyed having that foundation under my sax!
That's awesome that you got to play with him. I love a good horn section. I got to play with some great players.
Is there tone/voice bank...!?
Yes. There's a couple of hundred choices if memory serves me correct. I usually have just a few go-to sounds I use.
Great lessons Steve!
Thank you!!
hell yeah! love it
Great video. This is also good for seasoned players who want to expand on their playing skills.
Thanks so much for this video! I've been trying to transfer wav files to my R16 but wasn't assigning the tracks!!
Glad I could help!
Love the white board. I was thinking of setting mine up similar and using magnets to mark the notes. Probably speaks to our age. Analog baby. Put the needle on the record. The overhead projector sheets for your shapes… excellent info being shared here.
LOL! Yep, learning a song from a 33 was somethin' else!
Those that can mimic, and those that understand how to play…. I had this realization earlier this evening when I discovered this channel. Yes, tab can get you playing some of your favorite tunes that are already in your head. But understanding the rules of the game opens up your abilities to make music. I’ve done many searches to try and unlock what notes you would work with on a given cord progression and Steve is laying out there for us. Good stuff.
Yep, knowledge frees a player up. Here's a video that might help to understand chords more: ua-cam.com/video/1mK1wTjnFjA/v-deo.htmlsi=vH5ADi4G4PVsFF9l
This is the exact video i need for my trashcan. I pray mine turns out as good as yours. Thanks for the video!!
You're welcome. You can do it!!
@@stevekonbass Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Saved me money on a repair thanks
Awesome to hear that!
This is the best beginner lesson I’ve found so far. Solid information in this video. I’m working on learning the fret board and what notes to play along wife’s cord progressions on her ukulele. Playing tabs can allow you to pull off a few riffs and light the fire, this opens up improvisation possibilities.
Im loving the video so far. I do have a question, do you have anything on drop tunings and/or 5 string bass?
Not at the moment, but that's an idea. I played a lot of tunes in drop D when I was gigging in Florida.
I have one at home rn. When I get home I will be modifying it with a new set of geezer butler emg pickups. I’m worried about one thing. The rogue came with 4 pots and the emg is 3 idk what to do with the 4th spot. Maybe a producer knob lol
Thankyou so much for your Excellent Teaching ! Very clear and systematic
You are welcome!
after 100s of videos finally i found the best teacher to learn bass
That's quite the compliment. Hope you enjoy learning to play.
Thanks a TON to simplifying the BASS , the knowledge is deep if its kept simple and effective too, you are delivering and spreading love of music....... THANKS A TON once again , A.D.Singh INDIA
I hope so. Happy to help. Peace and prosperity to you.
I learned more with this video compared to others who don’t know how to teach
That's great to hear that. Please share it if you can.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us...
My pleasure 😊
Brilliant! I’m a guitar teacher but I have a few bass students I just wanted to make sure I was teaching the best way with the bass lessons many thanks from Nelson bays New Zealand.
You're welcome! And "Hello from South Carolina USA!"
Perfect cuts!
So I can make my own sounds 😎 I also heard If I hook this up to computer I get another 30 presets Download onto the amp I heard it somewhere.wasnt sure it was true lmk anyone anywhere
You can. Basically, you can tweak your effects and then make your own preset. There's also something you can download from the Fender website.
Hello, I have been playing bass for about a month and the "teach yourself books" can only do so much. This video blew my mind and even helped me understand the book more, my love for bass is steadily growing, I enjoyed this. Please be a bass teacher and open a school because I would go there.
Glad it was helpful! I give private online lessons via Zoom if you're interested. Visit: www.stevekonbass.com/ for more info.
Outstanding tutorial! I have watched a LOT of tutorials for a LOT of gear. Yours is one of the very best on every level! I haven't even got my Zoom MRT-3 yet. Being shipped. But I feel like after watching your vid. I will be on top of operating this machine in no time at all. Thank you very much. 5-stars!!
Thank you!! Hope you enjoy the machine.
Is your heater out? Lol. Do you prefer the J over the P bass, if so, can you explain why?
Best time of year, when it's cold. Yes, prefer J over P. Thinner neck and wider variety of tone.
I got the same one i can't figure out how to turn on the tuner i put a battery in it it won't work with the amp either
If the battery is good, just push the tuner button. If it doesn't light up you might've gotten a bad one.
Wow. Just discovered your channel. Loving your videos. Thank you!
You're welcome! Glad you like them. Please share the channel if you can.
More like Never Start. A BIG pos. It'll probably wind up in the trash bin.
💯excellet lesson, Steve. Love the format!
Thanks Delilah!
Thank you so much for your detail explanation.
Happy to help!
So good! Thank for being a great teacher
Thanks!!
Hello I just got one for a ukulele but clueless how to user do you know what knob would sound best for it . I wanted to hear just acoustic clean sound of the ukulele? Thanks in advance !
Keep the overdrive turned way down, the volume at about the 12 o'clock position, and start with the tone at about 11 o'clock.
Thank you!
I like the analog.
I bought this mixer a couple of days ago, do you notice any noise on the FX Channel if you boost it up more than 12 O'clock? Some effects more than other I get this iss, white noise sound, even with all the tracking channels down.
I haven't used it in a while, but I believe I recall the effects being a bit noisy if you crank them up.
@@stevekonbass thanks for your fast response man, well for the price sure can't ask for much. Although cheap things ain't so cheap no more. Keep up, thanks you so much!
True you are the best teacher❤,,,,,you are just amazing
Thank you! Please share the channel if you can to help keep it going.
Just beautiful!
Thank you!
Hey Steve! I was trying to send you something. Is the email on your website correct, or is there a better place to send to? Thanks!
Yep, email on the website is correct. It's on the home page and contact page.
Excelente la cambié sin problema alguno. Gracias
You're welcome.
Thank you Steve 👍, you are one of the rare people on tube who shows how to approach different classic dance rhythm’s which makes these exercises great fun 😄
My pleasure!
Great lesson Steve. It looks challenging Thank you very much
You're welcome Gal.
great lesson, thanks!
You're welcome. Hope you have fun taking a crack at it.
Thank you for this excellent greatest instructions. 🤗❤️❤️❤️🤗
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for all your help! I just got mine yesterday, and I have to cut some tile for my backsplash.
Happy to help!
Great to listen to the different rhythms and have them on one recording. Thx! How do you count the reggae? It is a 4/4 but you leave space on odd places which gives this reaggae feel. Not sure how to ask that in musical terms lol.
It's 4/4. Don't let the guitar throw you being it's playing on the "and" (1 and 2 and 3 and 4).
Thanks steve
Thanks for watching!
This is perfect! I’m doing my best to understand where the rhythm fits in while learning bass. I like how you explain it, follow the kick if you get lost.
Your feel will come in time. Try to listen and play different styles of music. That'll help.
@@stevekonbass thank you Steve!
Excellent instructional video! I love the visual aspect and easy to follow along!! Great video once again, Steve.
Thanks John!
Anyone know where I can purchase a new detergent tank for this pressure washer? I've had mine for about 10 years and the detergent tank is cracked
